The Body in Future Tense(d)
Project description
'The Body In Future Tense(d)' is a collaborative project between dance-maker Adam Linder and myself. Exploring dance as a representative medium for the body and new media as a representative medium for screen-based digital technologies: this one-onone participatory installation encourages the audience to refocus the relationship between their body, time and space via a performative journey. Adam and I believe that interdisciplinary work between dance and new media has the responsibility to address the wider social and cultural implications at the helm of the union of these modalities rather than solely dealing with their virtuosic aesthetics.
Weaving between notions of disassociation, re-embodiment, sensory deprivation/stimulation and physical intimacy, this specialised and individual experience facilitates a reflection on how our physical bodies behave in space, both physical and virtual.
