Abandonment (Ongoing)

Project description

This series of abandoned buildings is an ongoing project that is close to my heart. One of my favourite things to do is to explore various country sides overland with my camera in hand. The common ground regardless of geography is often the beauty found in the derelict. Buildings that were once homes. This shift in worth - from love and nurture to disregard, has always intrigued me. When do spaces and/or possessions lose their value? What triggers the decision to turn our backs on things?

The red brick house was stumbled across on a long, winding back street in country Victoria (Australia). The yellow house was found on a long, straight road up in the Scottish Highlands. Nothing around for miles.
